Eudoxus & the Egyptian Creation story

I’m listening to Robert Schmidt who passed away recently, I hold the same opinion of learning as he did teaching, and as ancient Greeks held learning and teaching. The interviewer is embarassing for someone with a vlog, this is an astrologer who charges people money FYI. I have not studied much and I haven’t read much but jeez, I know it’s nous not noose. Considering one is making a living off something developed in that culture, I think that’s one of the most basic words, isn’t it? Or do I think this because I was colonised by Europeans (as opposed to being of European descent and not needing to know anything to get ahead in life)? I speak 2 European languages more than fluently because I had to, to survive. I’m not keen to learn ancient Greek, I am exhausted by colonisation. I think translations, such as by Schmidt, will be adequate. Anyway Schmidt said he taught philosophy along with it, so then a learner, I suppose, has the liberty to decolonise that and adapt ancient astrology anew. Modern astrology is a colonial reinvention with Ancient Greek elements as well as misinterpretation and inventions picked up.

The Thema Mundi, Schmidt thinks, is an invention of Eudoxus of Cnidus, whom he think is the principal inventor of ancient Greek astrology. So this is the chart of the world and assigning planet rulership to signs in a symmetrical manner. See the image below that makes logical sense for an astronomer too.

In the 2004 Vol. 35, Part 2, №119 Journal for the History of Astronomy Schaefer, B. E published The latitude and epoch for the origin of the astronomical lore of Eudoxus and says the latter spent substantial time in Egypt presumably learning their astronomical lore.

I can operate on my left-brain only and I actually love to but I don’t do that anymore. This is why I write blogs while listening to discussions sometimes.

In the Egyptian creation story, Shu [Mercury] and Tefnut [Taurus] brought Ausareus’ eyes, one of fire that was clouded, one water fell from, Ausareus was blind before becoming 3 then they [and indeed all had to be from the earth and atmosphere, with the sea and sun] brought forth Seb [Virgo] and [Libra] Nut; and Seb and Nut brought forth Osiris [Scorpio], and Heru-khent-an-maati [Sagi], and Set [Cappy], and Isis[Pisces], and Nephthys[Aquarius]. No ‘Neith’ but there is a ‘Nu’, father. iSanusi Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa calls the initial creator Anu. It seems insulting to say Nu is Ptah unless it is in the sacred texts or an elder explains it linguistically.

In the Destruction story, the creator’s name becomes Ra. Apophis was born from Ra’s umbilical cord, indicative of how evil in Egyptian religion is the result of free will rather than a primordial force.[5] When Ra was in the underworld, he merged with Osiris, the god of the dead, and through it became the god of the dead as well.

Hathor [in South Africa is Mahato, it means the mother of the great footprint says Credo Mutwa] is Pallas Athena, I think and Sekhet(hetep) is undoubtedly Ceres, Sekhet-aaru is herbs… medicine-oracular akhekha… Must be Hygeia? Aaru is 6 in one Dravidian language and the foundation of one Dravidian religion is a 6-pointed star. They otherwise had locational gods like there were Toutatis in Europe I suppose. I am discovering this story and half-thinking why am I staying awake when there is probably a blog or article that has already converted them all into Western mythology/planetary terms. No, there doesn’t seem to be. I keep reading, I’m expecting to find Juno, in vain… but then I recall “about half the mass is contained in the four largest asteroids — Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Hygiea”.

You can google but if you tilt your head or your screen, until Cancer (the blue sign on top) is West instead of this blue sign, Scorpio, then you have a Thema Mundi. Image by Patrick Watson astrologer.

The Egyptian creation myth could be interpreted as starting with the creation of the atmosphere, Earth and luminaries; or by visibility, these are what we all see, young and old, assuming vision used to decline as it does today… A birth too (being propelled into individuation) starts with breath, love (comfort to the crying baby), night, mother, milk; and day, sight, warmth; dedication and organising; family, society inclusion; initiation, hard emotions, inward journeys; outward journey or migration, expansion; etc. These are e.g. characteristic of the signs Aries to Sagittarius.
